Photographing dichroic glass is rather challenging. No matter how hard we try to capture the depth and vibrance, it cannot compare to what you will see in person. The information and samples below are simply intended to help you make an educated choice when selecting a particular design.

dichroic
The word dichroic means “two colors,” referring to the different colors seen when viewed at different angles. Micro-thin layers of metal oxides are coated on the glass, transmitting certain wavelengths of light while reflecting others, thus creating an effect similar to the iridescence of butterfly wings, mallard duck feathers or opals.
fused images
We use black-and-white line art such as logos, initials and symbols. You can send us your favorite image and we can create a “one-of-a- kind” piece or an entire line.
shapes
This is the most recent way we have found to express ourselves! We can create custom shapes and very abstract designs.

Fused image examples (view in custom work)

animal lines (giraffe, wolf, rhino, tiger paw)
nature lines (sun, moon, leaves)
symbol lines (egyptian, yoga, Japanese characters)
iconographic lines (chopper cross, cowgirl, longhorn)
shape lines (butterfly, abstract)

These are most of the color choices you have in both textured and non-textured glass. We can only use non-textured glass (shown above) for fused images. All other work may use one or a combination of textures – ripple, granite, fibroid & radium.

This butterfly is on amber glass with a mosaic of dichroic coating on clear glass. You may choose different colors of base glass (or clothing, if no base glass is desired) to enhance the different dichroic colors in your piece.
